How to Mute System Sound with a Hotkey
If you have a multimedia keyboard then may be you are not looking for this article; all you need to do just press one mute button and that’s it. But what about those who don’t have multimedia keyboards and looking for easy method, to mute system volume.
Here it is; what you are looking for, just follow these steps-
How to Mute the System sound/volume/speakers
1. Download AutoHotKey Installer or ZIP file. If you download installer version then you have to install it.
2. Open Notepad and paste the following
insert:: SoundSet, +1, , mute
Note:- You can change “insert” with any key with which you are comfortable like CapsLock,1,q…
3. Save the file as “mute.ahk” (without quotes).
This step is as per the step provided in AutoHotKey tutorial. Even if you don’t change the extension or you keep it as .txt. It will WORK.
4. Now open the file with AutoHotKey. You’ll notice the icon in system tray.
Now you can mute your system volume with a hotkey in a non-multimedia keyboard with just a press of “insert” button.
Is that difficult?
Enjoy!
