Renaming multiple files at once is a difficult task but not that much as you think. Today I’m going to share with you a way to Rename multiple files at once and it doesn’t require any software or download.

So here i go..

  • Select multiple files in a folder which you want to rename. To do so, press and hold down the CTRL key while you are clicking files.
  • After you select the files, press F2.
  • Type the new name, and then press ENTER.

You are done!

I don’t think this is time consuming and not that hard. It is useful when you rename the file of same folder which contain related data likes pictures, video files etc. Suppose you are renaming multiple files and the new name given by you is “music” then your files will be saved “music(1).XXX”,“music(2).XXX”.. and so on.. (XXX-file extension).

If you still want to go with free software then Google it you will find lots of multiple file renaming tools.

Enjoy !

You might want to try Bulk File Renamer to rename to any combination you want.
