Copy Path Shell Extension- Copy Full Path

If you are a Programmer, then you often required to set the path or classpath Environment variables. But Windows Operating does not allow us to copy the full path of a file or a folder, say, c:\temp\test.doc to clipboard so that we can paste the same anywhere we require. Copy Path is the utility which can solve these problems.

Copy Path Shell Extension is a little C++ utility that lets you copy all kinds of path information, such as the full path, the location , just the filename,  and even the full or location-only UNC path.

Once you install Copy Path, it will show a new option in your right-click context menu called Copy Path:

Some find it useful to display the path-info text directly in the context menu. You can do that by selecting Options and checking Display results in menu. The path-info can get quite long and you can truncate the menu text by checking Truncate long paths in menu. Note that the entire path is still copied to the clipboard, just a shorter string is displayed in the menu.

Now the path-info is displayed directly in the context menu. Note that the info for the first file is used if multiple files are selected.

There are many other tools/program similar to Copy Path Shell Extension like Path Copy, Clip path and so on and all are freeware. You have to choose what suits you the best, after all Choice is yours. 🙂

Download Copy Path Shell Extension v1.1( Freeware )

Enjoy!

Do you happen to have a copy of this? I already contact the author of this shell extension just a minute ago, using a contact form on his blog, as both the post linked to and the extension download link no longer work.

From what I can see, this post is older than the archive goes back for their blog there, only goes back to 02-2007 right now.

Feel free to email it to me, post it, whatever, if you don’t mind and you have it, would be much appreciated!
